New feature: Task Template
As suggested in an email from Bill:
Please provide a way to change the default for a new task from recurring to one-time. I add one-time tasks every day, recurring ones infrequently.
With a Task Template, you can now do exactly that. If you often create tasks with the same recurrence options you can set your preference in the task template, found under Preferences.
There are other template options you can set too, such as the days of week that new tasks should occur (say you don’t like any tasks happening at the weekend), the default importance (perhaps you like your tasks to start at trivial and become progressively more important) and the default escalation options.
If you like MyChores behaving the way it does, don’t change anything in the task template and it will continue to behave just the same. The default defaults, so to speak, are exactly the same as they always have been.
The task template also applies to Quick-create tasks. This should save you having to go and edit tasks you have created with the Quick-create feature. The only difference is this: previously if you didn’t specify a recurrence when listing your Quick-create tasks they would be created as one-off. Now they will use whatever recurrence options are in your task template. Apart from that, everything works just the same as before.
Let me know if you spot any bugs with this. It’s one of those things where there are so many variables i can’t possibly test them all, but i am confident i have tested a wide enough selection that it’s going to work okay.
