Login problems

I am very sorry for the login problems we experienced this morning, and yesterday. Thank you to the people who wrote to tell me about it. Most unfortunately, i was out babysitting last night so didn’t see the emails, hence the prolonged period of time during which nobody could use MyChores.

All that was required to fix it was a restart of the Mongrel webserver, but this is now the second time it has happened, so i will need to look into why it happens. I think it’s a combination of the temporary session files becoming too large or too numerous, and the fact that i hadn’t done a webserver restart for a long time. Usually i restart the webserver at least once a month after making design changes, but because i’ve been on holiday, that hasn’t happened for a while.

To clean up the server we have removed all the session files. This causes MyChores to forget who you are, and you will need to log in again if you have not already done so.

Both MyChores and MyChores Mobile are up and running again, accepting both username/password login and OpenID login. My sincere apologies, and thank you for your patience during the downtime.
