Twitter direct messages of your daily chores
It is now possible for you to receive Twitter direct messages from MyChores. If you have phone alerts set up, you will therefore get a text message. If you have IM you’ll get an instant message. You will get one message each day, and it will tell you today’s tasks, or it will tell you there are no new tasks due today. It does not report overdue tasks.
You set it up under Preferences – Twitter integration. I have said that you need to add the Twitter mychores account to your Twitter friends list. That’s not me being neurotic; that’s a genuine requirement of Twitter – nobody can send you direct messages unless you have first made them a friend. Good thing too, the amount of spam we’d all get otherwise!
I make no guarantees as to the reliability of this, as it depends on Twitter being available and willing to send text messages at the time that you want your notification. I also don’t know whether Twitter might one day block automated direct messages. But for now, you’re welcome to have a go with it and see how you get on! :)
