Good news! Twitter Integration is back!
Well, i can safely say the hardest part about that was upgrading to Ruby 1.8.5 … which turned into the expected classpath nightmare, followed by a versioning nightmare, followed by a compile nightmare … i got my computer into such a bad state that i had to re-install the operating system this morning!!
Once i eventually got Ruby on the right version and working with all the right versions of everything else, it was actually quite simple to make the necessary code changes to enable Twitter updates via POST and basic_auth rather than via GET. The good news is that this is a much more secure way of sending your update, so i’m actually glad that Twitter forced me into doing it. I’m also glad that i’m on the latest version of Ruby (at last!). I’m even glad to have re-installed the operating system; it’s a good thing to do every so often!
So … happy Twittering to all who use it. Thanks again to Nye for letting me know when it stopped working. If anyone sees any problems with MyChores, please don’t hesistate to let me know! :)
Haha … now i can go and do my chores – i have a huge list of red and orange! ;)
