Anti-Spam Tactics
I think we got hit by a few spammers today. The number registered suddenly went up from 45 to 66, and most of them don’t look like legitimate users. I’m not going to delete them in case some of them are real, but i have put a little extra security check in place on the register page.
If someone wants to sign up, they have to enter a code (one which is kinda skewed and blurred). It’s called a CAPTCHA, just to test that it’s a real person signing up and not a robot. I have no doubt the robots will find their way around this, and when they do i’ll improve it, but it should keep them at bay for now.
I realise that some people will have difficulty seeing the code. In that case, i hope they will use the contact form so that i’ll be able to help them out.
This may change soon, but for now it’s just a quick hack to keep the robots out.
