We are OpenID enabled!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

MyChores has just become OpenID enabled! I’ve tested it with LiveJournal, MyOpenID and VeriSign, and they all work a treat. You are welcome to associate your MyChores account with an OpenID; just go to Preferences and it’s under Login details.
I have become quite the OpenID evangelist in the space of a few short days! It [...]

Coming very soon: OpenID authentication

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

I decided to make yesterday a MyChores Monday since the weather was so rotten and i had nothing much else to do. I spent the day learning about, and implementing, OpenID authentication.

OpenID lets you authenticate yourself with a trust mechanism between websites, rather than using a username and password. If you have a URL that [...]

An idea: Task Sequencing

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Here is an idea that i have been pondering for a while, and would like some feedback if it’s a good one.
Task Sequencing. Things that happen as a result of doing other things. For example here’s a 3-step sequence we could configure:
Put on laundry.
⇒ same day: Hang up laundry.
⇒ two days later: Put laundry away.
Whenever [...]

The return of the statistics

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I forgot to mention last night, the statistics page now includes a chart of tasks completed daily for the current month. I wanted to do it as a column chart but couldn’t get it to work, so it’s another bar chart, the same as the others. One day perhaps i’ll have some more time to [...]

Now able to access your tasks through the MyChores API

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Today the MyChores API has been extended to include ‘My Tasks’. As before, i have made a demo page to show it in use. When you look at that page, a prompt will come up for you to enter your MyChores username and password. That is because this API resource requires HTTP Basic Authentication.
Next i [...]

MyChores API and a new theme

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Today marks two new things on MyChores. Firstly, the very beginnings of an API, and secondly a new theme. Let’s talk about the theme first; i’ll come back to the API in a minute.
The new theme is called ‘Patience’. It’s grey and white, pale, blocky, and i couldn’t resist doing a bit of the diagonal [...]

Noteworthy statistics

Friday, May 11th, 2007

I don’t know about anybody else, but i’m really happy with the new statistics page! I can see that more tasks have been done in May 2007 than in the whole of November 2006 … and we’re only at the 11th of the month! That really is exciting!
I would like to put a bit more [...]

Export to spreadsheet now working again

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

That was a dead easy fix. I’d somehow lost the include ‘csv’ line, no idea how that happened, but i added it in again and Export to spreadsheet is now working as before.

Export to spreadsheet not working

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

It has come to my attention that export to spreadsheet is not working at the moment. I’ll have a look into it and fix it as soon as possible.

New statistics page

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Ahhh, i’m really pleased to announce a brand new statistics page. No more pretty line graphs and pie charts, i’m afraid, but on the plus side, this page keeps itself right up to date and i don’t have to do anything. It will also be easy for me to add any new statistics on to [...]
