Filter by team members

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

We have a new functionality for people who are in teams with two or more people: filter by member.
This was suggested and implemented by Derek, who wanted the functionality to help oversee what other team members had to do.
You’ll find the new option in the filter menu at the bottom of the workload page.

Lucky dip!

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

After a heavy afternoon working on the MyChores API i decided to do something fun for a bit of light relief!
If you have a lot of tasks to do and don’t really know where to start, try the Lucky dip! It will choose a random task that is assigned to you and either due today [...]

Improved registration process

Monday, May 5th, 2008

Last week i made OpenID registration easier; today i have made traditional registration easier, using reCAPTCHA.
No more entering ‘H6a38G’ or whatever code it was that i mangled in the GIMP several years ago! I had quite a few emails about that, from people who couldn’t read the code and there was no alternative. Now we [...]

Upgrade complete

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

We are now up and running with Rails 2.0.2. There were a few unforseen difficulties along the way, and you will probably need to login again. We are now storing session information in the database rather than cache in your browser. This turns out to be more secure.
The American English spellings are ready and our [...]

Now able to access your tasks through the MyChores API

Sunday, May 20th, 2007

Today the MyChores API has been extended to include ‘My Tasks’. As before, i have made a demo page to show it in use. When you look at that page, a prompt will come up for you to enter your MyChores username and password. That is because this API resource requires HTTP Basic Authentication.
Next i [...]

MyChores API and a new theme

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

Today marks two new things on MyChores. Firstly, the very beginnings of an API, and secondly a new theme. Let’s talk about the theme first; i’ll come back to the API in a minute.
The new theme is called ‘Patience’. It’s grey and white, pale, blocky, and i couldn’t resist doing a bit of the diagonal [...]

MyChores synchronisation with iCalendar

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

An exciting new feature has launched today, thanks to noi for the suggestion, we now have the beginnings of iCalendar support! Each team has a public iCalendar address (with an un-guessable URL for security) which means you can synchronise MyChores tasks with any application which supports iCalendar format.
There are actually two URLs per team – [...]

MyChores API idea

Friday, April 6th, 2007

It just crossed my mind that i could make an API for MyChores, then people could write Yahoo! Widgets, Google gadgets, and the like, to interact with MyChores.
I don’t know how to do it, but i love the idea of a Yahoo! Widget showing my current task list, with a few options for how i [...]
